What makes this field so special for you?
Growth and flowering is a magical process and special to witness up close.
Can you provide a description of your role or function and/or an outline of your involvement in the process?
At HilverdaFlorist, we make crosses between varieties and select within them. I supervise the process from selection, to setting out initial trials, and then sales.
Which part of the process do you find most fun/challenging?
The bit of selection and testing with customers.
What are you most proud of?
Our steady growth in the quality of our varieties.
We invested in LED lighting and chose to hang our LED lighting as close as possible to the plant by means of a hoisting installation. This results in the highest possible light level for the plant with the least possible energy consumption.
